ARTillery #2: Evolution — Exploring Inclusion Through Art
How can change create a sense of belonging?
ARTillery #2: Evolution was the second edition of Collective Oslo’s ARTillery exhibition series, bringing together 23 international artists to explore the relationship between change, diversity, and inclusion. Through photography, digital art, visual storytelling, and interdisciplinary practices, the exhibition examined how evolving perspectives can foster belonging and challenge established societal structures.
Connecting Perspectives
Presented in Oslobukta in August 2021, the exhibition investigated the power of artistic diversity as a catalyst for dialogue and transformation. Each participating artist contributed a unique perspective on identity, community, and human experience, creating a collective reflection on how societies evolve through difference rather than conformity.
The project encouraged audiences to consider how inclusion is not only a social responsibility but also a creative force capable of shaping new realities and stronger communities.
A Collective Exploration
ARTillery is an ongoing exhibition platform initiated by Collective Oslo to explore the role of art within the broader realms of humanity. Through each edition, the series brings together established and emerging artists across disciplines, encouraging collaboration, exchange, and new forms of creative dialogue.
For Evolution, the participating artists examined themes of transformation, belonging, visibility, and representation, highlighting how individual experiences contribute to collective progress.
Our Approach
Collective Oslo curated and produced the exhibition in collaboration with curator Riccardo Ruini and the participating artists. The process emphasized organic curation, interdisciplinary exchange, and artist-led storytelling, creating opportunities for both individual expression and collaborative exploration.
As part of the ARTillery series, Evolution continued Collective Oslo’s commitment to using art as a platform for reflection, conversation, and social engagement. The exhibition demonstrated how diverse artistic voices can challenge perceptions, inspire empathy, and contribute to a more inclusive cultural landscape.
