Create a Better Tomorrow, Tonight: Transforming Public Space Through Art and Culture
Setting the Scene
In collaboration with Absolut Vodka, COLLECTIVE developed the multidisciplinary exhibition and event series Create a Better Tomorrow, Tonight. Combining contemporary art, live performance, music, and nightlife culture, the project transformed public space into an immersive cultural experience while creating visibility for emerging Norwegian artists and experimental artistic expression.
Supporting Emerging Artistic Voices
As part of the collaboration, COLLECTIVE awarded grants to five Norwegian artists to create original works for the exhibition. Artists Julian Karlsen, Christian Husan, Tord Torpe, Derek Ercolano, and Helle Navratil developed site responsive works exploring contemporary identity, creativity, and urban culture. Over the three days the exhibition remained open, more than 60,000 visitors encountered the installations.
Art, Performance, and Nightlife Culture
To celebrate the exhibition, COLLECTIVE transformed the main indoor shopping street at Aker Brygge into an immersive nighttime event space where the artworks themselves became central scenographic elements within the party environment. More than 600 invited guests moved through an atmosphere balancing contemporary art, music, hospitality, and performance.
Guests were served Asian inspired dishes alongside drinks by Absolut while live performances and DJ sets by William French and Bendik Giske shaped the rhythm of the evening. Throughout the event, the art collective Lyssky projected large scale art films onto a giant screen, extending the visual identity of the exhibition into the surrounding public environment.

Our Approach
Our approach focused on dissolving the boundaries between exhibition, nightlife, and public cultural experience. Rather than separating contemporary art from entertainment and social interaction, COLLECTIVE developed a format where performance, installation, food, music, and visual storytelling coexisted within one immersive cultural landscape.
COLLECTIVE led the artistic direction and production of the project, shaping everything from artist collaborations and spatial atmosphere to live programming and audience experience. By transforming a public commercial space into a temporary cultural environment, the project expanded accessibility to contemporary art while creating a socially driven platform for emerging Norwegian creatives and multidisciplinary artistic expression.
