Romulo Tijero Lozano: Exploring Nature, Heritage, and Human Connection Through Photography
Setting the Scene
French Peruvian photographer Romulo Tijero Lozano creates images inspired by the relationship between nature, cultural heritage, and human perception. Based in Bergen, Norway, his practice combines careful observation with emotional storytelling, using photography as both a creative process and a tool for personal reflection. Through exhibitions and international recognition, his work has reached audiences across Europe and beyond.
A Practice Rooted in Observation
Romulo’s photography originates from a deep curiosity about the natural and cultural environments that surround us. His images often focus on reflections, abstraction, movement, tranquility, and overlooked details, inviting viewers to pause and engage with the subtle qualities of a landscape or place.
His multicultural background and experiences across different countries have shaped both his perspective and his artistic process. By combining influences from nature, travel, and cultural heritage, he creates photographs that balance documentary observation with a more emotional and poetic visual language.
From Sustainable Development to Fine Art Photography
Romulo first became involved with photography while documenting ecotourism projects in Peru in 2006. After more than a decade working as a sustainable development consultant, he made the decision to pursue photography professionally, returning to study the medium and develop a new creative career.
His work has since been exhibited internationally in Italy, Greece, the United States, and Scotland, and has received recognition through competitions including the Fine Art Photography Awards, Budapest International Foto Awards, Chromatic Awards, and Tokyo International Foto Awards. Throughout his practice, nature and cultural heritage continue to serve as enduring sources of inspiration and exploration.
